Guided Thought Records
The Thought Record is a guided, CBT-style exercise for working through difficult thoughts step by step — capturing what's on your mind, examining it, and finding a more balanced perspective.
How It Works
- Capture the thought. Write or dictate what's looping in your head — voice dictation is fully supported.
- Rate its intensity. How strongly does it grip you right now?
- Examine the evidence. Genis prompts you through what supports and what challenges the thought.
- Find a balanced perspective. Land on a fairer, more grounded way to see the situation, then re-rate the intensity.
Why It Helps
Thought Records are one of the most-studied techniques in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Writing a thought down and examining it deliberately creates distance from it — the thought becomes something you have, not something you are.
Tied Into Your Companion
Completed Thought Records inform the Smart Counselor's understanding of your thinking patterns, and breakthroughs you record can surface later through your Victory Vault when you need the reminder.
